Refurbishment and Pre-Demolition Survey

The Health and Safety at Work Act and CDM regulation 2015 requires a survey to take place before works which pose an asbestos risk.

If there is a risk that you will disturb asbestos containing material, a survey must take place, either before works begin.

We operate a quick response to clients requiring a Refurbishment or Predemolition Survey in Kendal, Cumbria, Lancashire, or Yorkshire.

What is Required and Why?

If you are upgrading, refurbing, or demolishing a building or part of it, you require a Refurbishment and Demolition Survey. A competent surveyor must complete the survey.

The survey aims to ensure that:
  1. Asbestos Containing Materials in the premises or equipment will NOT harm anyone.
  2. The correct contractor will carry out the work in the correct manner

The survey must locate and identify all Asbestos Containing Materials before any structural work begins at a stated location or on stated equipment at the premises.

What’s Involved?

This type of survey involves a destructive inspection which will cause asbestos disturbance.

As such, it is vital that you vacate the area for the duration of the survey. Whilst we appreciate this may not be ideal for your project, it is necessary.

Failure to manage asbestos correctly can lead to the exposure of asbestos fibres to individuals. This will result in prosecution and possibly imprisonment!
